Description for the week: Cooking according to Hildegard von Bingen
Cornelia will take you on a culinary journey through Hildegard's cuisine. The insights of the knowledgeable nun into the connection between physical and mental health and the effect of certain foods, herbs and spices on people are still valid today and have been confirmed by modern medicine.
To appeal to all our senses, Nicole will sing and introduce us to the songs of Hildegard von Bingen on individual days.
Hildegard von Bingen is a unique woman. She composed several hymns for her women's monastery. These no longer followed the strict Gregorian rules. They are based on the church modes as we still know them today. The intervals are boldly composed.
Larger interval steps can often be heard. Hildegard von Bingen's hymns have been with me for 30 years. Today I sing them regularly in the Elisabethen Church in Basel and in the Anna Chapel near Mairiastein.
And time and again at a deathbed, as a music therapist. The hymns touch me because they are simple and easy to improvise from.
I completed a singing course at the Lichtenberg Institute and a music therapy course at the Orpheus School. Singing and music therapy are part of my daily life. I enjoy accompanying people on their musical journey.
I would like to be grateful for all this.
